They add extra security to your property with the same principle as the barrier arm.
A thick stainless steel wire runs between a control plinth on either side of the driveway. As a vehicle approaches and has access to the property then the stainless wire will drop to the ground for the vehicle to drive over. Once the vehicle has passed the wire will be winched back to the top of the plinth, securing the site like a chain across a drive.
